To make the marinade, grate the garlic and combine with the soy sauce, mirin and sesame oil. Add the tuna to the marinade and marinate for 15 minutes.
Just before serving, cut the avocado into 2 cm (¾ in) cubes. Place the rice in individual bowls and top with the tuna and avocado. Spoon a tablespoon of the marinade over the rice and garnish with the nori.
