  • vegetable oil, such as sesame, canola or olive, for frying
  • 4 large plain onigiri

Method

Heat a lightly oiled frying pan on a medium heat (or, even better, use the barbecue). Cook the onigiri on both sides until nice and brown. Brush one side with soy sauce and cook a little longer until the sauce is well browned. Do the same on the other side.

— Make sure you make very firm onigiri for this dish so they keep their shape during the cooking.
