While Alice’s version of Anzacs has long since been over-run by the officially approved biscuit, featuring rolled oats and made without eggs, her recipe is well worth reviving. It’s easy to bake and produces a perfect accompaniment to tea or coffee.

Preheat the oven to moderate (180°C). Line a baking tray with baking paper.
