Apple-Honey Crisp


  • 2 lb cooking or baking apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ cup honey
  • tbsp all-purpose flour
  • cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • Good pinch of salt
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter


Lightly grease a 1-quart baking dish. Arrange the apples in the dish and sprinkle the lemon juice over them all. Spoon the honey over the fruit.

In a bowl, mix together the flour, oats, sugar, and salt. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles bread crumbs. Sprinkle the crumbs evenly over the fruit.

Bake in the center of a preheated oven at 375°F for about 40 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is browned. Serve with cream (Surprise! Surprise!) and eat hot.
