This is a great everyday barbecue sauce for all kinds of burgers. It also works well as a dipping sauce for French fries. If you’d like, amp up the heat by adding a bit more cayenne and chili powder. The flavors improve after a day or two, so it’s best to make it in advance.

  1. Combine the ketchup, chutney, vinegar, mustard, chili powder, liquid smoke, molasses, garlic, and cayenne in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce to medium, and cook until slightly reduced and thickened, 30 to 40 minutes.
