  • About

Commonly found at cha chaan tengs since the 1970s, red bean ice is made from leftover red bean soup. It is not only thirst-quenching but also satiating. Traditionally, this iced beverage is made with evaporated milk, another shelf-stable pantry item, but it is much better with plant-based milks, in my opinion!

Ingredients

  • cups [300 ml] cooked and cooled Red Bean Soup
  • Crushed ice

Method

Fill two tall glasses half full with red bean soup, about ¾ cup [150 ml] each. Fill the remainder of each glass with plenty of crushed ice. Top them up with the plant milk (about ¾ cup [150 ml] each) and condensed milk (about ¼ cup [60 ml] each).
