This banana roll is similar to mochi, sometimes rolled up with a thin layer of red bean paste (an optional addition), and something that I remember having as an after-school snack. Rather than using artificial banana extract and food coloring, as it is made nowadays, I use real bananas and natural coloring in this recipe. I find this makes for a more flavorful treat that is probably closest to the original.
