Peanut Candy

Folklore says the origins of peanut candy date back to 475–221 BCE during the Warring States period, when various rival states battled for territorial dominance. While the wealthy were able to escape the war zones, most struggled to stave off starvation. Maltose and peanuts were readily available, and mixing them together provided sustenance. These candies are still a Hong Kong favorite as seen at Kei O, a family-owned business that has been making these Chaozhou-originated candies for over
