Teriyaki is a Japanese cooking method. “Teri” means luster and “yaki” means grilling or broiling. Teriyaki sauce is often used as a glaze for fish and meat dishes, but it’s also surprisingly good with vegetables. Use a thick, good-quality teriyaki sauce or make your own. In this recipe, we roast red cabbage wedges with teriyaki in the oven and use one wedge to make a quick sweet-and-sour slaw as a refreshing contrast to the fairly sweet red cabbage teriyaki.
