Kaali or khari masoor daal is a whole brown lentil, best served with plain boiled rice. Served with a side of finely sliced onion rings with some mint leaves, a dash of lemon juice, and a sprinkle of salt, this is our family’s favourite comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Kaali Masoor Daal
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder

Method

Soak daal for half an hour or more.

Cook daal in 4 cups of water with salt, garlic, turmeric, and red chilli powder.
