Daal fry is cooked in tomatoes and spices and is a staple dish that is served at roadside cafés in Pakistan. This recipe of chana daal fry is Ammi’s version of this delicious daal, and when it is served with a side of naan, it is a meal on its own.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chana Daal
  • ½ tsp Garlic Paste/Powder

Method

Soak daal for half an hour or more.

Cook daal in 2 cups of water with salt and a pinch of turmeric until it softens.

In a separate pan, fry onions until golden-brown. Add ginger paste, garlic paste, red chilli powder, and turmeric powder. Cook the masala for a few minut
