Turai is one vegetable that I seriously disliked as a child, just because of how boring it looked. I didn’t even want to try it, but I fell in love with it when I finally tasted it. Abbo loved this turai recipe by Ammi.

Ingredients

  • 500 g Ridge Gourd (peeled and cut into thin round slices)
  • 250 g Onions (sliced)

Method

Fry onions in oil till they become golden-brown.

Add whole red chillies and cumin seeds, fry for a couple of minutes.

Add tomatoes, turai, and salt, and cook covered on low heat (do not add any water).

Garnish with coriander when done.

Serve with boiled rice or with daal and chapati.
