  • About

Khichri is the quintessential comfort food, in which lentil and rice are cooked together. It is often cooked when someone is sick or has an upset stomach, as it uses minimal spices. There are two variations of khichri cooked in our family; one has a soup-like consistency, while this recipe is more on the dry side.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Basmati Rice (pre-soaked for 30 minutes)
  • ¾ cup Moong Daal
  • 1

Method

Fry onions until they become golden-brown.

Add all the spices along with ginger paste and garlic paste, and fry for a few minutes.

Add 3 cups of water and salt and bring it to a boil.

Add the soaked (and drained) rice, and cook on medium-high flame.
