Puri is a soft and crispy deep-fried bread, which is part of the traditional halwa puri breakfast. This method is a no-fail recipe for making this traditional fried bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup Whole-Wheat Flour

Method

Mix both types of flour (maida and atta) and salt.

Add oil and yoghurt, then knead the dough with warm water. Cover with cling film and leave to rest for at least an hour.

Heat oil in a wok on a high flame. The oil needs to be hot, otherwise the puris will take time to cook and become hard.
