Shahi tukray is a bread pudding dessert. It is made with fried bread slices that are soaked in sweetened hot milk infused with cardamom and saffron. It is also called double ka meetha. I make it fairly often, as it is my husband’s favourite desi (local) dessert.
Boil milk and cook until it reduces to half.
In the meantime, cut the bread slices into half (triangle shaped), and shallow-fry in ghee.
Add sugar and condensed milk to the reduced milk.
Add crushed nuts, saffron, and kewra essence to mixture.
Arrange the fried bread slices in a serving dish, and pour the milk mixture over it.
Garnish wit
