This recipe for zarda is easy to make and doesn’t end with stiff or sticky rice. It’s usually eaten as a dessert, but in our family, it is always an accompaniment of pulao. We mix and eat pulao and zarda together.

Ingredients

  • 250 g Rice (pre-soaked for 30 minutes)
  • 250 g Sugar
  • ¼

Method

Soak rice for half an hour.

Boil water, add food colour, one cardamom and one clove.

When water boils, add the rice. Once the rice is fully cooked, drain and leave it in the colander (strainer).

In the same pan, add oil and fry the remaining cloves and cardamoms on low heat.
