The roe deer really is prince of the forest. Tread very quietly through the sticks and leaf litter and you will find them staring, as they most likely saw you first. Within a blink or random thought they dissolve as if by magic... in fact, sometimes I think it is. With their cloven feet, careful posture, penetrating look, and small pronged candle-drip antlers, these creatures hold a very special place in my heart.
