Wisty’s apple cake

I asked my wife for this recipe.

She replied, ‘I’ll give it to you once you’ve finished your book, as there is no urgency for me to write one recipe when you still have a hundred to do.’ I was intending to call it Charlotte’s Apple Cake, as it is was always she who baked it, but when I finally opened Charlotte’s email it said the recipe had in fact been sent by her mother, or Wisty, as we all call her.

I love the fact that this illustrates the handing-on of recipes in a fami
