With the amount of nut butter I go through, I’d be broke if I bought it. Beyond the economical perk of DIY nut butter, another feature of making it at home is coming up with your own proprietary blends (suggestions below).

Ingredients

  • 2–4 cups roasted nuts or seeds (almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts, pistachios, sunflower seeds, or a mixture)

Method

Add nuts or seeds (or a mixture) to a food processor and blend for 3–5 minutes, or until a ball forms. Break into pieces and blend again until oils release and they begin to get creamy (about 3–5 minutes). Turn off machine for 10 minutes (as to not overheat motor). Scrape sides and blend until completely smooth (about 3–5 minutes). Transfer to a glass jar or airtight container and refrigerate f
