Red cabbage is a great winter warmer. It can be cooked slowly, as in this recipe, and then reheated as needed. It is also fabulous in stir-fries and raw in salads and coleslaw. Traditionally, cabbage is cooked with apples, but pears can also be used. This recipe is delicious served with sausages, pork chops or roast duck.

Ingredients

  • 1 large red cabbage, cored and finely sliced
  • 2 medium pears, peeled, cored and roughly chopped
  • 1 red onion, sliced
