Easy

Hailing from Indonesia and Malaysia, kueh is like a cake or a pastry. This version - Kueh Lapis - is one of the more popular cakes served on special occasions. It’s a moist, rich cake of ‘a thousand layers’ and does take time to prepare as each layer is grilled separately, but I can assure you that the outcome is well worth it. I’ve stuck with a traditional recipe here but recently new flavours, such as chocolate, coffee or prune, have become popular.
