These wonderfully sweet flatcakes are an Indian tradition served during festivals and holidays. Each region has its own take on these pancakes, adding banana or coconut or a touch of cardamom (as here). They are similar to pancakes and can be eaten plain or dressed with fruit, drizzled with flavoured syrups or sprinkled with chopped nuts.
