The humble cinnamon bun, or as the Swedes say ‘kanelbulle’, is one of the more famous bakes associated with Sweden - it even has its own national day on 4th October. The cardamom in the dough gives a lovely spicy kick to the sweetened pastry and, topped with almonds and sugar, they are a perfect partner for your mid-morning coffee - or ‘fika’ as they say in Sweden.
