Whether you spell it Loukamades, Loukoumathes, Lokma or Lokmades, mounds of these little honey doughballs adorn bakeries throughout Greece and Turkey. These aromatic deep-fried doughnuts are drizzled with a spiced honey syrup - they are tooth-tinglingly sweet. Rumour has it that they were presented to the winners of the Olympic Games in Ancient Greece.
