It’s difficult to pronounce the name of this cake without being given the phonetic - koo-ween a-mon - since it’s in the old Breton language, rather than French. And this butter cake is a little piece of heaven. It may resemble a sweet puff pastry but it is made of bread dough, with layers of butter and sugar folded in; the resulting cake is crisp on the outside yet chewy inside.
