The English word for ‘bun’ most likely originated from the Greek word ‘boun’, which described a circular ceremonial cake that was offered to the gods. Easter has been for a long time a mixture of religious and pagan traditions - for instance, Saxons ate buns with a cross on to honour the goddess of light, Eostre. So, this Easter Bun Ring seems a perfect teatime offering, hitting the same spicy fruity notes traditional at this time in the UK.
