In Maltese ‘prinjol’ means ‘pine nut’ and the amazing pine nut sweet - or Prinjolata - is enjoyed every year on the Mediterranean islands of Malta and Gozo. At Carnival, at the start of Lent, beautiful displays of Prinjolata adorn the windows of all confectioneries on the islands.
