  • About

Let the record show that we were hip foragers before it became cool. One of my earliest memories is of my mother teaching me to forage for dandelion greens in China; when we moved to Michigan, we’d gather fiddlehead ferns, looking for shoots that were just starting to sprout. These things grew like weeds in the woods, and in the springtime you’d see me running around outside, picking up fistfuls of ferns for a snack.

We didn’t eat fiddlehead ferns in Xi’an, but the plant is a staple
