Dress up a bought cake. If you buy a sponge cake, make flavoured buttercream and layer it or simply spread on top. Decorate with any of the quick ideas on this page. If you buy a fruit cake, add a little liqueur (brandy, rum or Madeira), then decorate with ribbon and fresh flowers. Or buy lots of little cakes, ice with buttercream and pile on an array of sweets. Children would love to make these.
