  • About
Sheet cakes are used in 3 ways: as simple cakes covered with frosting and served in rectangles; cut into smaller rectangles and stacked to make square or rectangular layer cakes; and rolled up into a rolled cake.
If you’re serving a sheet cake as a simple cake covered with frosting, you’ll need to bake a cake about 1 inch thick.
To make the cake, double a recipe for one ½-inch-thick sheet cake and put all the batter into 1 sheet pan. Bake the cake in a 350°F oven for about 25 minutes, or until it springs back to the touch.
