Born in Angola and raised in Portugal, Melo D’s work is marked by a tireless desire to explore new musical avenues. He ventured into acid jazz with Cool Hipnoise, recording two important albums for Portuguese music in Nascer do Soul and Missão Groove. His African roots came to the fore with hip-hop band The Family, with whom in 1994 he was part of the first Portuguese hip-hop compilation, Rapública.
Also with three solo albums and a long list of collaborations with musicians from different musical genres to his name, in recent years he has studied music production in Barcelona, guitar in London and musical sciences at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Although he has always considered himself a rapper, today he is, above all, a music lover and musician.
