Deolinda was born of the joint wish of four people to work together on the idea of what Portuguese popular music could be and so to create an artistic universe with an identity all its own. From the songs came the personality, from the name were born the clothes, and the illustration by João Fazenda gave a face to the music. Word spread, friends started bringing more friends and shows became more and more packed. Audiences sang the songs, knowing all the lyrics by heart. The characters in the stories, the stories themselves, the open and friendly smile that Deolinda gave through their music – all was returned in the form of applause, platinum-selling albums, awards and love from their public. Deolinda are singing their idea of Portugal to the whole world and feeling happy with it.
