Selma Uamusse is a Mozambican singer who has lived in Portugal since 1988. Singing professionally since a teenager, her route as a performer has led her through many different styles. Owner of an agile and expressive voice, she has proved herself equally at home in the spirituality of gospel, the fire of rock, the warmth of soul, the rhythm of afrobeat and even in jazz. All this until she decided to make her own music, a unique sound somewhere between Portugal and Mozambique. It’s music that explores the roots of her homeland, using African rhythms and lyrics in native languages, combining traditional instruments such as the mbira and the timbila with electronica and other references that reflect her diverse influences in a rich and heady fusion.
