A type of orange of Japanese origin, the satsuma belongs to the same group of “easy-peelers” as the clementine. Pale orange and the shape of a slightly flattened sphere, it is juicy, slightly tart and almost seedless. Peel and eat it raw, or use it in fruit salads, jams and marmalades. Generally available at the beginning of winter. (67)
