When making Indian dishes, we tend to use onions quite extensively. For different dishes, the onion can be cut differently. For example, finely chopped or chopped for most curries and some salad dishes, paysanne for some curries and sliced onion for Biryani and Pilau rice dishes. Some ways in which to chop an onion and the name of the cut are as follows:
