This cow’s milk cheese is very rich and creamy with a light, soft fudgy texture and a downy-white bloomy rind. Explorateur was invented in the 1960s to honour the explorer Bertrand Flornoy, who was mayor of the town of Coulommiers and a lover of good cheese. He also helped to create the annual Foire aux Fromages in La Capelle. This is a magnet for cheese-lovers, and there is a competition for ladies with a prize of 30 bottles of Champagne for the one who eats the most Fromage Blanc!
