Appears in

By Eileen Yin-Fei Lo

Published 1985

  • About
Use a rather large white turnip for this, preferably one at least 3 inches in diameter.
1. Cut a cylindrical piece out of turnip, 4½ inches long. Stand it on end and cut a basket shape and handle, as illustrated.
2. Beginning at bottom, cut a row of small petals around the base. Then cut a row of larger petals. Break off this second row and discard. Cut another row. Cut another row and discard. Repeat process until you have 3 rows of petals in ascending sizes, with 2 rows between them that have been broken off.
