Folaga

The coot is a bird which lives on and around river estuaries. Because of its fishy taste it used to be eaten in Italy on Fridays as an acceptable alternative to fish. This distinguishing factor is exactly the reason that it is not much eaten in Italy today and in this it has much in common with the rare yellow- and red-beaked bird gallinella d’acqua or moorhen.
