There has been a big outcry abroad about Italians eating this wonderful migrating bird. In a time when everyone is concerned about the preservation of wildlife, Italy has now joined in the banning of the hunting of these birds. In Montalcino, where a festival celebrating the birds used to take place, the thrushes are now replaced with quails, although it is still called the Sagra del Tordo.
