This is a large, straight hollow pasta tube about 6 cm (2½ inches) in length and 1.5 cm (⅝ inch) in diameter. The outside can be smooth or ribbed, when they resemble rigatoni. In Manica, the tubes are slightly curved. They are especially popular in the south, where large pasta shapes are preferred, and they are eaten with meat sauces or as part of a timbale.
