  • About
There are literally hundreds of varieties of this particularly pretty fungus. The fungus has an infinite range of colours and it is easily confused with other species, both poisonous and edible. It can be difficult even for experts to distinguish them, so I would advise against collecting them unless you are in the company of a real expert.

It is a delicate mushroom with a cap that is red, yellow, green or even pale blue and purple. It usually appears in deciduous woods during August and September. The field variety is usually white with a straight and hollow stem that can be either white, yellow or a pinkish colour. If you find it in a shop, check that it has been passed by the forestry authority for edibility and prepare as for the Agarico delizioso.
