The petals of the highly perfumed wild red Rosa canina, are imported from Arabic countries, Romania and Bulgaria to make rose water, which is used to flavour biscuits and pastries. It is also essential for the preparation of Rosolio, a gentle and old-fashioned liqueur which has recently become fashionable again.
