Barbera

This is another classic Piedmontese wine which may only be made in that region. The grape gives the name to the ruby red wine, which is considered to be a good table wine and everybody drinks it in Piedmont. There are three areas which vie for supremacy in the making of this wine - Barbera d’Asti, Barbera D’Alba and Barbera del Monferrato, with some usual differences. The Barbera D’Asti is exclusively made with Barbera grapes, while the Alba wine can be made with a little percentage of Nebbiolo grapes and that of Monferrato can include Freisa, Grignolino and Dolcetto grapes.
