This name is given to four wines made in the province of Brescia in Lombardy. The Franciacorta Bianco (white) and Franciacorta Spumante (sparkling) are both made with a mixture of Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. A minimum alcohol content of 11 or 11.5% is required for the production of this soft and delicate wine with an intense bouquet. The Franciacorta Rosato Spumante (sparkling rosé) is made with the Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, giving a very fragrant sparkling wine for the summer. Franciacorta Rosso is made from Cabernet Franc and Barbera or Nebbiolo grapes. Brilliant red in colour, becoming garnet with age, it has a balanced and dry taste, and being light (a minimum alcohol content of 11%), it is suitable for local meat and cheese dishes.
