An Umbrian wine of character, the Torgiano is produced in the commune of the same name in the province of Perugia and can be red or white. The red is produced with Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Trebbiano Toscano grapes. The deep ruby Torgiano red has a delicate bouquet and a dry well-balanced taste, making it excellent with game, pork and lamb dishes. The Torgiano white is straw-yellow in colour and produced with Trebbiano Toscano, Grechetto and Malvasia Toscana grapes. It has a fruity and pleasant dry taste, so it is served with first courses and pale meat or fish dishes.
