Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi

This very popular dry white wine, which is excellent with fish and seafood, is made in the province of Ancona, the capital of Marche, from Verdicchio, Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia grapes. With a pale straw colour, delicate bouquet and dry balanced taste, it is bottled in a characteristic amphora-like bottle and is now strongly commercialized. It should be drunk very young because it tends to oxidize with age. A second, not dissimilar, type of Verdicchio is called Verdicchio di Matelica and is made in the province of Macerata.
