Vin Nobile di Montepulciano

A noble wine indeed, this is extremely appreciated by connoisseurs. It is said to have been given the name because a few noble families of Montepulciano used to make it for their own use. This is a DOCG wine made with Prugnolo Gentile, Canaiolo and Malvasia del Chianti and Trebbiano Toscano grapes, all growing at an altitude of 300-650 metres (850-2000 feet) in the area of Montepulciano. The wine has a deep garnet colour becoming orange with age, and a delicate bouquet with a hint of violets. The taste is dry and it has abundant tannin, so it ages well. This brilliant wine is ideal for game and robust red meat dishes.
