Allow 2 heaped tablespoons of coffee to one pint of water.
Warm the jug and add the required amount of coffee. Pour on freshly boiling water. Stir and leave to stand for a few minutes, then skim the surface with a spoon to take away the excess coffee grounds. Leave for another minute, then using a strainer, pour into cups and serve with milk or cream and sugar to taste.
