If you have a small amount of fine piping to do, it can be convenient to use a small hand-made piping (pastry) bag made out of baking parchment.
- Cut a right-angle triangle of paper with the short sides about 25-30cm/10-12 in long. This can easily be done by cutting a 38 cm/15 in square of paper into quarters.
- Hold the paper over the back of your hand with the right angle pointing to your elbow and wrap the paper into a cone with all three points crossing over at the top.
- Turn in the points at the top to hold the cone in place. A piece of adhesive tape can also help to secure the cone. You may find that you have naturally created an opening at the point that is the right size for piping. If not, snip off a little bit of the point.
