There’s an abundance of pasture-raised eggs at the grocery store these days, and that’s a great thing! Pasture-raised eggs have a higher nutritional profile to cage-free or free-range eggs, which are simply marketing terms that mean nothing. Cage-free and free-range birds never ever go outside. You will immediately notice the shells of pasture-raised eggs are harder and the yolk is a vibrant orange color. Vital Farms’ organic eggs are my go-to in stores, but search for local farms that sell pasture eggs by using your zip code at eatwild.com. Organic is a must in my opinion because these chickens still have a supplemental feed of grain, which is GMO unless it’s stated organic or non-GMO on the box, but organic is still better.
